Catalyst and Deloitte Host Networking Event: Shaping the Future of Corporate Leadership

Since its launch in 1993, WIN has helped us create a more inclusive environment, win the war for talent and build the intellectual capital required to serve our clients, to develop our people and to grow our business.—Tony Buzzelli, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP

On Wednesday, October 18, 2006, more than 40 Catalyst members and guests attended “Shaping the Future of Corporate Leadership”, a breakfast event held in Los Angeles. Host Tony Buzzellii, Vice Chairman of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, discussed the success his firm has experienced in implementing strategies not only to attract and retain more women, but also to secure advancement opportunities for them. In a little over a decade, the number of partners has jumped from 5 percent in 1993 when the firm started its Women’s Initiative (WIN) to 35 percent today.

The event also featured a presentation by Catalyst President, Ilene Lang, who examined specific change drivers that can be leveraged to enhance opportunities for women in the workplace. Participants broke into groups for informal networking and in-depth exploration of issues such as: What is your organization doing really well right now?  How could your organization be more effective?  How could you use your influence to make that happen?
