Catalyst today announced that Irene Rosenfeld, Chairman and CEO of Kraft Foods Inc., will serve as Chair of the 2009 Catalyst Awards Dinner. Catalyst also announced that Andrea Jung, Chairman and CEO of Avon Products, Inc., will deliver the keynote address at the 2009 Catalyst Awards Conference. The dinner and conference, which will be held at the Waldorf=Astoria on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in New York, honor the 2009 Catalyst Award winners for outstanding business initiatives that advance women and business.

“Irene Rosenfeld and Andrea Jung are wonderful role models for women in business,” said Ilene H. Lang, President & Chief Executive Officer of Catalyst. “The fact that these women have achieved the CEO position at two of the largest companies in the United States should encourage women at any level to aspire for leadership opportunities, regardless of role or rank. We are honored to have them play such vital parts at the 2009 Catalyst Awards celebrations.”

Rosenfeld is a 27-year veteran of the food and beverage industry, working her way up through a variety of leadership roles. She joined Kraft Foods in 1981, becoming Chief Executive Officer in June 2006 and Chairman in March 2007.  Rosenfeld’s leadership helped make Kraft Foods one of the leading food and beverage companies in the world, and she served on the senior team that led to Kraft’s Initial Public Offering in 2001.

Jung became CEO of Avon Products in 1999, and added Chairman to her title in 2001, after joining the company in 1994 as President of Avon U.S. Product Marketing Group. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the General Electric Company and Apple.

Each year, the Catalyst Award is presented to companies and firms with outstanding initiatives that produce measurable results in women’s career development and advancement, and provides the business community with replicable change models that are good for business and good for women. The 2009 Catalyst Awards Dinner is sponsored by DuPont and Shell Oil Company, and the 2009 Catalyst Awards Conference is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company.
