Census Partners and Friends

The following partners and friends conduct censuses of women in leadership that complement Catalyst’s annual Censuses. The two partners also collaborate with Catalyst on corporate board services, and we list their censuses in the Metrics section of Research & Knowledge. All four are among the many organizations with which Catalyst maintains relationships.

Partners

Alliance for Board Diversity (ABD) is a collaboration between Catalyst, The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), and Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP), with the support and guidance of The Prout Group. The Alliance produces the Women and Minorities on Fortune 100 Boards report every two years that details the number of Fortune 100 board seats held by whites, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, and Hispanics by gender. The Alliance acts a central resource for any company or organization interested in finding qualified women and minority men board candidates.

Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) is an Australian statutory authority that works with employers to improve equal opportunity outcomes for women in the workplace by delivering practical solutions, building strategic partnerships, and leading public debate to increase the rate of change. EOWA uses Catalyst’s methodology to count the number of women in Australian corporate leadership, at the corporate officer level, and in the boardroom. Catalyst Metrics include the following EOWA censuses: women board directors in 2002; women managers in 2002; women in leadership in 20042006, and 2008; and gender distribution of top earners in 2006.

Friends

Businesswomen’s Association (BWA) is a South African nonprofit that helps businesswomen create connections on multiple dimensions—personal, professional and business—throughout their careers. BWA uses Catalyst’s methodology to count the number of women in South African corporate leadership, at the corporate officer level and in the boardroom. Included in Catalyst Metrics is the South African Women in Corporate Leadership Census in 2004 and 2005, which were conducted in conjunction with Catalyst.

The InterOrganization Network (ION) consists of regional organizations located across the United States that work to advance women to positions of power—primarily to boards of directors and executive suites—in the business world. Each member of ION annually tracks women directors and executive officers of public companies in its respect geographic area, and ION publishes a report that compares data from the ten regions.
