Heather Foust-Cummings, Ph.D., leads research projects in the women’s leadership and organizational change and effectiveness practice areas for Catalyst. Since joining the organization, Dr. Foust-Cummings has directed Catalyst’s Ten Years and Still Counting project, for which she conducted in-depth interviews with Fortune 500 women board directors and women corporate officers. She also leads Catalyst Member Benchmarking, which annually assesses the scope of diversity and inclusion at partcipating organizations. Her current research focuses on understanding issues related to the retention and advancement of women in high-technology companies.

Prior to joining Catalyst, Dr. Foust-Cummings taught at Columbia University and Barnard College, as well as conducted brand analyses for the Corporate Research Department at Young & Rubicam.  Dr. Foust-Cummings also has worked in public relations and in nonprofit training and development. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science (American Politics), as well as a Certificate in Women's Studies, from Emory University in Atlanta. She received a dual B.S. in Political Science and Secondary Education (Social Sciences) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
