Richard (Rich) K. Templeton, Chairman, President. and CEO of Texas Instruments, Joins Catalyst Board of Directors
Thomas J. Engibous, Chairman of Texas Instruments, and former Chair and Member of Catalyst Board of Directors, becomes Chair Emeritus and Honorary Director
NEW YORK (June 5, 2008) – Catalyst announced that Richard (Rich) K. Templeton, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Texas Instruments Incorporated, has joined the Catalyst Board of Directors.
Mr. Templeton succeeds Thomas (Tom) J. Engibous, former Chairman of Texas Instruments, who had served twelve years as a member of Catalyst’s Board of Directors, four of them as Chair. Mr. Templeton’s position on the Catalyst Board became official on April 9, 2008 at the same time as Mr. Engibous stepped down from an active board role.
“Rich Templeton exemplifies the strong and engaged leadership that Texas Instruments and Tom Engibous brought to the Catalyst Board of Directors,” said Ilene H. Lang, President of Catalyst. “We are honored that Rich has decided to continue in this tradition. It demonstrates his commitment to our mission of advancing women to leadership, and we look forward to his active participation.”
At his retirement, Tom Engibous was elected an Honorary Director in appreciation for his years of service both as a member and Chair of the Catalyst Board of Directors. The Catalyst Board created the Honorary Director designation in 2006 to recognize long-serving directors who have demonstrated significant commitment, leadership, and support. Tom is one of only five Honorary Directors.
“Catalyst has been privileged to benefit from Tom Engibous’ astute leadership and generosity,” said Ms. Lang. “His contribution to Catalyst will help sustain us in the years ahead.”
Rich Templeton became Chairman of the Texas Instruments board in April 2008, and President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2004. He has served on the company’s board of directors since July 2003.
