Susan Nierenberg leads Catalyst’s Global Communications, developing and directing marketing and corporate communications strategy and programs for Catalyst in North America, Europe, and India. She has played a leadership role in developing greater awareness of Catalyst, particularly in media and global communications and through the expansion of the Speakers Bureau, and by defining and directing communications about Catalyst to its many audiences regionally.
Ms. Nierenberg has extensive experience in integrated marketing and communications management. Prior to joining Catalyst, she was president of The Informedia Group Inc., where she designed and directed strategic marketing communications and branding programs for major corporations and nonprofit organizations. She held senior management positions at both J. Walter Thompson and at Ruder & Finn, where she developed and led its new communications technology and media division. She was instrumental in championing issues including women’s health, HIV-AIDS, and UV awareness and developed significant media partnership programs that increased recognition of brand leadership and commitment to social responsibility. For her communications work she is the recipient of two PRSA Big Apple Awards and a Silver Anvil Award.
Ms. Nierenberg also worked as special projects associate producer at WCBS-TV News in New York and managed field and press operations in national and state political campaigns. She sits on the Advisory Board for Forbes Woman and has published articles on strategic applications of new technologies in communications. Ms. Nierenberg received a B.A. in Political Science from Douglass College of Rutgers University and completed special studies at L’Institut des Etudes Politiques in Paris, France. She is married with two children.
