Rima Matsumoto joined Catalyst in March 2013 as part of the Marketing Department. In her role, Ms. Matsumoto determines the entry strategy for Catalyst’s emerging markets in its global expansion efforts. Her primary responsibilities include conducting market assessments, determining Catalyst’s market entry approach and developing the country launch strategy and business plan. She is currently focusing on projects related to Mexico and Japan. In addition to her position in the marketing department, Ms. Matsumoto serves as an advisor to the Global Issue Specialty Team, an internal group that builds knowledge and expertise on global diversity and inclusion practices.
Prior to joining Catalyst, she was Vice President of Research and Strategic Alliances at Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP) where she was charged with opening the organization’s Washington, DC, office. During her four-year tenure, she developed LEAP’s Corporate Governance Initiative and authored reports assessing the current inclusion of Asian and Pacific Islanders at the highest levels of leadership positions in the private and public sectors in the United States.
Ms. Matsumoto also served as Executive Director for the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), a Washington, DC-based coalition of 16 of the most influential national Hispanic organizations in the United States working with the Fortune 500. At HACR, Ms. Matsumoto was instrumental in the formation of the consortium the Alliance for Board Diversity (ABD), to promote diversity in the corporate boardroom. The charter members included Catalyst, Executive Leadership Council (ELC), HACR, and The Prout Group. Five years after ABD’s founding, LEAP joined as the fourth leadership organization.
At Frostburg State University, Ms. Matsumoto studied International Studies with a concentration in International Politics.
