Coleen MacKinnon is responsible for developing a member outreach strategy in Quebec, including the recruitment and support of new and existing member organizations.
Prior to joining Catalyst, Ms. MacKinnon spent 15 years as a nonprofit consultant in Canada and Australia providing counsel in the areas of strategic planning, social and political advocacy, PR andcommunications, and fundraising. Clients included a cross-section of healthcare, education and community service organizations such as McGill University, University of New South Wales, Jewish General Hospital, Canada World Youth, the Australian Human Rights Commission, St James Ethics Centre, and Inspire Foundation.
In addition to her consulting roles, Ms. MacKinnon held a number of senior management positions with McGill University (1991-96) and the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation (1998-2000). She began her career with Corporate Communications, Atlantic Canada’s largest public relations and advertising firm.
Ms. MacKinnon is the founder and board member of Les Affranchies (The Freed), a community organization dedicated to encouraging a provincial strategy to combat human trafficking in Quebec.
Ms. MacKinnon holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and English) from Saint Francis Xavier University, a Diploma in Public Relations Management from McGill University, and a Diploma in French from l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi.
