NEW YORK, NY (January 27, 2015)—Catalyst announces that strategic talent management initiatives from Chevron and Procter & Gamble are the recipients of the 2015 Catalyst Award, the prestigious annual award honoring exceptional and innovative initiatives that expand opportunities for women and businesses globally. These initiatives galvanize action to build and leverage inclusive workplaces worldwide.
“This is how we push forward,” says Deborah Gillis, President & CEO, Catalyst. “Championed by CEOs who understand that with intentional action profound change is possible, this year’s Award-winning initiatives showcase innovative workplaces where talented women and men have equal opportunity to advance. They demonstrate how corporate leaders at all levels can think, speak, and act differently, resulting in exceptional business impact and results. ”
“I am inspired by the 2015 Catalyst Award-winning initiatives,” says Ellen Kullman, 2015 Catalyst Awards Dinner Chair, and Chair of the Board & Chief Executive Officer, DuPont. “They are developed by leaders who understand that in today’s competitive global marketplace, creating an inclusive organizational culture is a winning business strategy. These are powerful examples of how companies can push the boundaries and create workplaces where all employees are empowered to perform to their full potential.”
Though from very different industries, this year’s Catalyst Award-winning initiatives share a strong commitment to valuing and cultivating talent across their organizations, prioritizing inclusive talent management as central to the way business gets done.
Chevron’s U.S.-based initiative, The Chevron Way: Engineering Opportunities for Women is designed to strengthen the organization by increasing the company’s strategic focus on people, in particular by attracting, retaining, developing, and advancing women throughout the company.
Procter & Gamble’s Everyone Valued, Everyone Included, Everyone Performing at Their Peak™ is a global initiative that aims to develop talent throughout the organization, including advancing women leaders across regions through wide-ranging learning and career development resources.
Catalyst Award-winning initiatives are evaluated in a rigorous year-long process against criteria such as strategy and rationale, senior leadership activities, accountability and transparency, communication, employee engagement, innovation, and measurable results. Since 1987, Catalyst has recognized 84 initiatives at 78 organizations from around the world. These groundbreaking diversity and inclusion programs have changed workplaces, communities, and lives.
Nearly 1,600 guests, including CEOs and leading executives from top global corporations and professional firms, will celebrate the Catalyst Award-winning initiatives at the gala 2015 Catalyst Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City; the Board Reception is sponsored by General Motors Company, Juniper Networks, Inc., and Shell Oil Company, and the General Reception is sponsored by Walmart. Earlier in the day, the 2015 Catalyst Awards Conference will feature Mary T. Barra, Chief Executive Officer, General Motors Company, as keynote speaker, in addition to a series of action sessions, such as “Forget What You Think You Know About Millennials” and “Interrupting Unconscious Bias.” Walmart is the Lead Sponsor, and session sponsors include QBE, Alcoa Foundation, and EY.
Both the Conference and Dinner are milestones in Catalyst’s year-long Disrupt The Default campaign, which presents a call to action for companies and individuals to shake up the way things are done and make bold moves that will forge meaningful change for women and men, in the workplace and the world.
