Implemented in 2002 in response to employee survey data in which employees indicated that greater trust and flexibility would make Best Buy an employer of choice, Best Buy’s “Results-Only Work Environment” (ROWE) allows employees to do “whatever they want whenever they want as long as the work gets done.” ROWE is seen as a complete cultural transformation that permeates the entire workplace. As of March 2013, Best Buy is no longer offering the ROWE program. However, other organizations still use the model.
