A corporate merger in 2007 facilitated BNY Mellon’s enterprise-wide examination of its diversity and inclusion efforts. In an effort to attract and retain diverse talent while creating an inclusive workplace, the company bolstered support for its employee resource groups: women (WIN), multicultural employees (IMPACT), employees with disabilities (HEART), and LGBT employees (Prism). IMPACT is designed to foster the inclusion and leadership development of multicultural employees. Its activities involve every aspect of employees’ career growth, from recruitment and retention to professional development and advancement. At BNY Mellon, purposeful language and cultural sensitivity are critical. IMPACT offers a multicultural model that fosters interaction and understanding, while also maintaining the flexibility to meet the unique needs of all of its members, a primary goal.
