There is no single “right” way to be a man, and social environments that encourage flexibility—rather than rigidity—allow men and people of all genders to thrive. Ultimately, organizations should foster flexibility in how men express their masculinity. Employees of all genders, including men, should feel supported in embodying a full spectrum of human characteristics and behaviors, whether those characteristics and behaviors are stereotypically masculine, feminine, or otherwise. When they are able to do this, we are confident that employees, leaders, and organizations can flourish.
