Zoetis’s Kristin Peck: Inspiring Inclusivity Through Authentic Leadership (Spotlight Story)
Kristin Peck, CEO at Zoetis—the world’s largest publicly traded animal health company and member of the Fortune 500—is intent on helping colleagues make a difference in their careers and making Zoetis a place where they can bring their whole selves to work. Zoetis has done more than many of its peers in the Fortune 500 to incorporate colleagues with diverse perspectives and backgrounds within its highest ranks. Still, Peck sees significant opportunity to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion across Zoetis’ broader colleague base, while reinforcing how DEI is part of the company’s purpose of nurturing the world and humankind by advancing care for animals. Zoetis has been public about its five-year aspirations that include increasing representation among people of color in its US workforce—while seeking to increase the percentage of women in leadership roles, globally.
In addition, Peck and her team are supporting DEI education, expanding development and networking opportunities, requiring diverse slates of candidates for open positions, and partnering with organizations like INROADS and HBCUs to attract more diverse talent. From a personal standpoint, Peck has directly mentored dozens of women throughout her career—coaching, preparing, and encouraging them to take on positions of increasing responsibility. As a compassionate leader who has benefited from great mentors and sponsors—and a woman who understands why inclusion is so important to building great companies—she offers her mentees and colleagues a valuable perspective.
