Meet: Colleen Moorehead, 2015 CCH Champion, Business Leader; Chief Client Officer, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP
What do you love most about your job (and why)?
There is something completely great about working with a group of smart and engaged people every day. At Osler, I work in an open environment where my team shares space at a very long glass table. I think part of the fun is that not everyone has the same point of view but we have to work it out. It’s also fun because the team comprises all ages and stages, which ensures that we are all up to date on the latest, whatever the latest is. We collaborate and work with our partnership with a single-minded focus on amazing our clients! That is fun and fulfilling.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work (and why)?
I love playing tennis. One of my favourite ways to spend time is to be at my cottage on a sunny day, hitting the ball with music playing. It is glorious and free.
Who is your personal hero (and why)?
I admire trailblazers, fighters, and individuals with a vision who achieve exceptional things and are willing to sacrifice all, while staying focused on making change happen. A modern-day figure I admire is Malala Yousafzai. At 14 years of age and at risk of death in Pakistan, she continued to speak out against the Taliban about her right, and the right of all women, to an education. It’s amazing that she had to fight so hard for something we in Canada take for granted and consider a universal right. She exemplifies the will and spirit in women around the world to push for equity. What a courageous young woman!
