Meet: Cynthia Hansen, 2015 CCH Champion, Business Leader; Senior Vice President, Enbridge Pipelines Inc.
What do you love most about your job (and why)?
What I love most about my job are the people I work with at Enbridge and within our industry. I am very fortunate to work for a company that recognizes the benefits of a diverse workforce and promotes inclusion. As the SVP of Operations, I have the opportunity to work with our frontline leaders to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our pipeline assets. The team I work with at Enbridge allows me to fully contribute and be fully engaged. We work together and I consider many members of the Enbridge team my close friends as well as my respected colleagues.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work?
When not at work, I spend time with my family and friends. I am currently teaching my nieces the basics of cooking as they are now living on their own in my home city. I love to travel with my husband and friends. We still have much of the world to visit.
Who is your personal hero?
My mom is my personal hero. I lost her to cancer in 1995 but I still think of her every single day. She was nurturing, supportive, and ambitious. She made sure that I enrolled in university and found my path into my career. No matter what my sister or I did, she was 100% supportive and provided unconditional love, with a good deal of common sense thrown in. She instilled in me the basic principles and values that guide my life.
